Maarten is free again!
The Amsterdam man arrested last Wednesday night has been set free again this afternoon at 5 o'clock. An extension of his time in the cell was unnecessary, the authorities acknowledged. The facts that Maarten has a permanent place of residence and has already made agreements with the Swedish authorities about co-operation was enough cause to decide that Maarten must be immediately freed.
Maarten was arrested because an extradition request from Sweden was pending against him in connection with the EU Summit that took place in June 2001 in Gothenburg, He stands accused of having hit an agent and participated in a 'violent riot'.
